Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions:

  • Leave bandage on for a minimum of 3 days, no more than 5 days. DO NOT soak new tattoo!

  • Bandage can get wet, but not submerged. NO BATHS, HOTTUB, POOL, OCEAN, etc.

  • When showering, gently wash around bandage with a liquid, antibacterial soap (Gold Dial or clean Softsoap). Try not to come in contact with the bandage. Adhesive in bandage DOES NOT react well to anything with a fragrance (soap, lotion, body wash).

  • DO NOT sleep on bandage.

  • Keep out of direct sunlight and refrain from excessive exercise. Adhesive DOES NOT react well to heat and sweat.

  • It is normal for the bandage to fill up with fluid--it's your body's way of healing itself. If your skin has a reaction to the adhesive (excessive irritation, or heat rash underneath) remove bandage immediately.

  • It is recommended to wash your hands with hot water and liquid antibacterial soap before and after removal of the bandage. Then, wash tattoo with hot water and antibacterial soap. Rinse well. Pat dry with a paper towel. Apply fragrance free lotion as needed (Aveeno, Eucerin, CereVe, etc.). If it looks dry, apply lotion. In about 2 weeks it will look like you were born with it.

Piercing Aftercare Instructions:

  • It is recommended to spray piercing with H2Ocean spray throughout the day (about 3-6x). If it feels warm, itchy, you remembered you got it...spray it.

  • DO NOT touch piercing unless you have washed your hands first.

  • Wash hands with hot water and liquid antibacterial soap. Make sure to clean your nails.

  • DO NOT use soap to clean piercing. With clean hands, clean piercing with H2Ocean spray. You can use cotton swabs soaked with H2Ocean.

  • Clean piercing throughout the day. If you see "crust" clean it off. Must keep the wound clear so the bad stuff can get out. That means more than twice a day!

  • DO NOT touch, turn, twist, pull or push your jewelry unless you are cleaning it. Only do so as much as needed to clean. Your skin will NOT stick to the jewelry, but the crust will stick to both.

  • Piercings will take 4-6 months to fully heal. DO NOT change jewelry before fully healed.

Oral Piercing Aftercare Instructions:

  • Rinse with antiseptic mouthwash (Listerine or equivalent) after everything and anything you put in your mouth-- eating, drinking, smoking, etc.

  • DO NOT eat hot and/or spicy foods. Drink ice water to help with swelling. NO sucking on ice, straws, lollipops, popsicles, etc. Sucking can tear piercing.

  • If you have a lip piercing, also follow "Piercing Aftercare Instructions".

  • If you have a tongue piercing, after swelling and discomfort go away, begin brushing bottom ball with toothbrush at least once a day.
